Civil War Trailer's Spider-Man Suit

​Ok, the new Civil War trailer dropped yesterday and I've been ranting in almost social media form about it since then. Specifically and obviously about Spider-Man's debut in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Oh My Freaking Glob I'm So FreaKing Excited! If you know anything about me, I'm a huuuuuuuuuge Spider-Man fan, even to the point where I always go on record admitting I loved the Clone Saga. (Suck it haters, Ben Reilly forever!)

I read somewhere there are going to be two Spidey suits. I can't find the original source of this rumor so I can not confirm this. But it makes sense. There would be Peter's original suit that he creates and a Stark made suit. That's how it was in the comic and I'll dive more in depth into why I believe this is Starks version. But it doesn't look like the Iron Spider you say. It could still be the Iron Spider suit (it isn't, I don't believe they will have one) because in the comic the Iron Spider suit could cloak itself to fool his enemies into thinking he's wearing the classic suit. I don't think we'll see an Iron Spider version just for consistent sakes. This is Spidey's debut in this universe so it's like showing it to a new audience, where they don't want a wardrobe change the first time you see him. Remember this isn't a Spider-Man movie, he probably won't have a huge role despite being a crucial element to the comic's Civil War storyline. Giving him a drastically, new costume mid-movie with his brief screen time. It might be confusing for the average movie-goer. You have to remember that yes they can hide all the easter eggs and nods for hardcore comicbook fans, but they have to make sure it makes sense for Joe Smoe who walks off the street and never read a single comic book. Also there's no room for the waldoes (Spider Claw legs) and I doubt Tony would hand over the newest technology of his current suit, the Model 52 (Transformational Mark ⬡​) that he wears in the newest comic and seems to also appear briefly in this trailer.

ET Mask

As mentioned before, here's the ET mask. This thing is beyond creepy and it is part of a set believe it or not. Not only did Universal Studios decide to produce this atrocity it came with a costume and accessory. My mask is pretty beaten up and I don't know what ever happened to the rest of the set but I have found pictures of them for you. Well to start this thing is just plain creepy. What's with all the make-up and yellow highlights? It looks like they made ET into a drag queen and dumped it in a vat of nuclear waste.

They made this in 1982 and for some reason there was a big fad in wearing a mask and having a costume that consisted of an entire picture of the character you're trying to dress up as. Which is really the most retarded thing ever. Yeah I definitely look like Batman when I have a full body picture of Christian Bale on my shirt. They were extremely uncomfortable since the "shirt" which had long green sleeves was made of a cheap plastic that didn't really form right. It was like wearing a shopping bag that didn't let your skin breathe at all. Oh wait it gets better. Look at the nice accessory it comes with.

All right lets just get it out there now. The damn thing looks like a dildo that's modeled from an old man's penis. It's a rubber attachment that extends your finger by 3 inches longer. The one that came with the costume didn't light up which I always thought was stupid. Nice to know they actually made one though.

Admiral Ackbar Mask

IT'S A TRAP!!! Who didn't see that one coming? I still can't believe this thing is actually in one piece. It's quite a surprise considering it is just on of those really cheap Halloween masks that go on your head using a rubber band.
Believe it or not but this actually officially licensed by Lucasfilm Ltd themselves. Which means Lucasfilm Ltd actually decided to make very cheap Halloween masks based on many characters that weren't even major roles in the Star Wars franchise.

This thing went for $1.39 in 1983 when it was made. According to the Relative Value of Money by GDP this would cost about $5.68 and that is not including the overpricing of Star Wars merchandise and Admiral Ackbar's popularity today. As you can see it was made in Brooklyn for the Return of the Jedi. Apparently, it is also "Flame Proof" and "Comfortable". I'm not sure if you remember wearing that type of mask but the paper is not comfortable really and I doubt they are flame proof. Obviously, I haven't put this to the test and I'm not going to.
You may wonder how I've got this to begin with since it is older than me. Well, when I was little my Grandma had a bunch of Halloween masks and costumes in her guest room closet for us to play with. This included some really random masks and some unique ones like Admiral Ackbar and ET. I'll leave ET for another day though.
