Halo: Reach - Legendary Edition

"Big Box of Crack"
Hmm... I wonder why this post is a week late. Oh yeah, I picked up what I like to call a "Big Box of Crack". The Halo: Reach Legendary Edition is massive. Just check out the scale next to a controller. There is so much inside that I will actually say it is worth it. Along with all the physical goodies inside you get, a bunch of downloadable codes. This included the famous Flaming Head armor effect, that Bungie kept for themselves in Halo 3. A little Falcon (helicopter) and Reach Edition 360 Controller for your LIVE avatar. An exclusive Officer armor for your Elite and a Recon Helmet for your Spartan in multiplayer. And a 2-hour long behind-the-scenes documentary that is accessed through Halo Waypoint. That's already a lot and that was just on two cardboard cards.

Back of Note about
contents of Black Box

To begin there is a bunch of stationary throughout the package with notes written on it. They did a great job with the printing because it really looks like it was handwritten with a pen or marker. I can't tell you enough how many times I've seen this attempted and it looks really fake. Enough about that stuff, lets get to the stuff you really want to see.

ONI Black Box
ONI Article ID Tag
Reach Map and
Hasley's Journal
The ONI Black Box is full of cool stuff and is essentially the Limited Edition of Halo: Reach. The first thing you see in the Black Box is the game of coarse. Behind that a tray lifts out and that is where the Top Secret note is located on top of a black bubble wrap bag that looks like a hard drive. On one side is the Article Identification tag and the other is the opening with a large ONI sticker sealing it. Inside is of course Dr. Catherine Hasley's Journal. The largest document inside of that is a map of Reach with tactical notes scribbled on it.
There is so much stuff packed into this journal it is amazing. All the pages are filled with detailed notes, scribbles, and sketches. Everything is well thought out and clearly planned as only Dr. Hasley would. Within the pages of the journal many items are tucked away. These range from News Reports, Intel Photos, ONI Command Letters, Mjolnir Blueprints, Spartan II Candidate files, DNA analysis, Biological Augmentation files, a Spartan II iron on patch, and Dr. Hasley's Access Card.
There is so much packed in that the people who just got the Limited Editions will not be disappointed. Flipping through the notes you'll spot out some familiar names from the Halo novels.
One of the Spartan II Candidate files is actually Kurt's from Ghosts of Onyx. The DNA Analysis card is from a soldier from the Orion Project (Spartan I project). The Biochemical Analysis Lab card is actually from none other than John (Master Chief) himself. Even Dr. Hasley's Securtiy Access Card has incredible detail with a RFID chip in the back of it. Microsoft and Bungie did not mess around when they put this collectors edition together.
Oh and how can I not talk about the highlight of the this package. The reason why this was made into a UNSC crate is that there's a size-able monumental statue inside. Which according to the note is only 1:53 the size of a fictional monument that was created for Nobel Team. The detail is amazing on the statue and I wouldn't expect anything less from McFarlane Toys. Each Spartan of Nobel team has their own iconic weapon with battle-worn accuracy from the game. This thing is huge and I love it. It now sits proudly on top of my Xbox 360 and I have the old, big version too for comparison.
Overall a great package and game for fans.
